Professor Xie Biyie graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2013 and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong in 2017. From 2018 to 2022, he conducted postdoctoral research at Nanjing University, and University of Hong Kong. In March 2022, he joined the School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, as an Assistant Professor.
Professor Xie Biyie's research interests include condensed matter physics, electromagnetic microwave manipulations, micro-nano photonics, and phononic crystals. His specific research directions include (1) novel topological phases of matter and state control, (2) design and implementation of new types of photonic/acoustic artificial microstructures, and (3) Matrix-inspired photonic/acoustic materials. Professor Biye is also committed to applying theoretical results in the design of new functional devices, such as topological photonics, topological lasers, optical communication, and quantum computing. He has published over 20 papers as the first author or corresponding author (including co-authors) in international high-level journals such as Nat. Rev. Phys., Nat. Comm., Phys. Rev. Lett., Light: Sci. & Appl., Adv. Photon., and Laser & Photonics Rev., and serves as a reviewer for APS and OPTICA series journals.
