Dr. Mingjian ZHANG received the bachelor's degree in chemistry from Nankai University in 2008 and the PhD degree in condensed matter physics from Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, CAS in 2013. Then he carried out the postdoctoral research at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (2014–2016), and went to Brookhaven National Lab and Argonne National Lab successively in US (2016–2019) for further researches. After returning, he conducted researches as an associate research professor at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (2020-2022). In 2022, he joined School of Science and Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) as a tenure-track assistant professor.
His research interests mainly focus on the structure-performance relationship of the materials for energy conversion and storage, especially employing various in situ/operando techniques based on synchrotron/neutron/electron sources to study the structure-performance relationship of cathode materials for Li/Na-ion batteries under the synthetic/operation conditions. Dr. Zhang has published more than 70 academic papers in Science Advances, Journal of American Chemical Society, Nano Letters, Advanced Energy Materials, and other well-known academic journals with a total citation of more than 3100.
