Dr. Liang Wu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. His research interests include radio-frequency, millimeter-wave and terahertz CMOS integrated circuits for wireless communications and Internet-of-Everything applications.
Dr. Wu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Fudan University in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2012. Since his study at HKUST, he has been working on CMOS millimeter-wave phased array circuits and systems. From 2013 to 2015, he was with HKUST as a Research Assistant Professor, and also served as the Deputy Director of HKUST-Qualcomm Joint Innovation and Research Laboratory. He initiated researches on CMOS fully-integrated visible light communication (VLC) system-on-a-chip (SoC). He co-founded Jetcomm Technologies to commercialize his intellectual properties on VLC and obtained funding support from the Hong Kong Innovation Technology Commission. From 2016 to 2018, he was with the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, City University of Hong Kong, as a Senior Research Fellow, where he successfully developed a 310-GHz CMOS radiator system chip.
Dr. Wu has published papers on top-tier IEEE journals including Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC), Transactions on Circuits and Systems I (TCAS-I) and Journal of Light-wave Technologies (JLT), and on IEEE conferences including International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). In addition, He has filed 2 PCT and 3 US patents. Dr. Wu is a member of IEEE and has served as an executive committee member of AP/MTT Hong Kong Chapter from 2017 to 2021. He has served as the TPC member in International Wireless Symposium (IWS) 2014, and co-chaired the 16th and the 21st IEEE (HK) AP/MTT Postgraduate Conferences in 2015 and 2020, respectively. Currently, Dr. Wu is serving as a peer reviewer for a number of renowned IEEE journals including JSSC, TCAS-I, TCAS-II, TMTT, MWCL, and TVLSI.
