Assistant Professor
PhD, CQT, National University of Singapore, Singapore
MSc, S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, India
Sanjib Ghosh is currently an Assistant Professor and a doctoral supervisor in the School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Previously, he served as an Associate Research Scientist (副研究员) at the Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences (BAQIS) from 2021 to 2024. Prior to that, he was a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, from 2017 to 2021. He obtained his PhD in Physics from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2017.
Broadly, his research interests lie in condensed matter physics, strong light-matter interaction, and quantum information processing. In these areas, he has published over 35 articles in reputed journals, including Physical Review Letters, Nature Physics, Nature Materials, Science Advances, and Nature Communications.
For instance, his research includes the study of Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) of exciton polaritons in novel low-dimensional materials. Recently, he has made extensive contributions to the study of room-temperature BECs of exciton polaritons and their innovative applications, such as quantum simulators, neural networks, and quantum computing. He investigates strong light-matter interactions in systems like perovskite and TMD microcavities, photonic crystals, and more.
Additionally, he is working in the field of quantum information processing. Recently, his team has been focusing on the concept of a quantum neural network that combines the advantages of quantum information processing and artificial neural networks on a single platform. This system is being explored for various applications, such as quantum state tomography, quantum parameter estimation, quantum state preparation, and quantum computing.
He is also interested in quantum transport of ultra-cold atoms, single-photon emitters, topological lattices, and non-Hermitian systems.
He was a recipient of the Europhysics Letters (EPL) Award in Italy in 2016 and the Merlion Scholarship in Singapore in 2014.
