Tao Mei is the Founder and CEO of HiDream.ai, a high-tech startup focusing on generative intelligence for creativity. An International Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of IEEE, IAPR and CAAI, and a Distinguished Scientist of ACM, Dr. Mei is a world-renowned expert in AI, computer vision and multimedia. Along with his highly-cited publications (39,000+ citations with h-index 97, 15 paper awards, and 60+ granted patents), he has led the research and development behind numerous successful commercial products used daily by millions around the world. Previously, he was a Vice President of JD.COM and a Senior Research Manager of Microsoft Research.
Dr. Mei is the Vice Chair of IEEE Signal Processing Society Image, Video, and Multidimensional Signal Processing Technical Committee, a member of IEEE Fellow Committee, an Executive Committee Member of ACM SIGMM, and the Founding Co-chair of ACM Multimedia Asia. He has been a Senior or Associate Editor of a dozen IEEE/ACM Transactions. He is a General Co-chair of ACM Multimedia 2023 and IEEE ICME 2019, a Leading Program Co-chair of ACM Multimedia 2018, IEEE ICME 2015, and IEEE MMSP 2015.
Dr. Mei received his B.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Science and Technology of China.
