Biography

Zhigang Li received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees both in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University in 2011 and 2016, respectively. From 2014 to 2015, he was a visiting scholar with the Illinois Institute of Technology and the Argonne National Laboratory. He was an Associate Professor with South China University of Technology. He was a recipient of the top academic honor for PhD candidates at Tsinghua University, and received the Excellent PhD Thesis Award of Tsinghua University. He was the Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program by the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering (CSEE). He was selected as one of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier. He is among the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2022 and 2023 reported by Stanford University. His research focus includes energy internet, low-carbon smart grid, renewable energy resource management, and AI-enabled optimization theory.

He has published 107 peer-reviewed technical papers in top journals including four ESI highly cited ones. He received the Best Conference Paper Award of the 2020 IEEE PES General Meeting, the Best Paper Award by the CSEE, and the Best Paper Award by the 7th Purple Mountain in 2022. He received the 2021 First-Class Science and Technology Award of the Education Ministry of China and the 2022 Second-Class Natural Science Award of Shanxi Province.

He is an IEEE Senior Member, and a CSEE Senior Member. He serves as editorial members of IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, IEEE Power Engineering Letters and CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, and is a past Associate Editor of Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy.
