Lei Lei joined the School of Science and Engineering (SSE), The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen as a research assistant professor in Nov. 2024. Lei received his bachelor's degree from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (2005-2009), master's degree from Beijing University of Chemical Technology (2010-2013), and doctorate from McMaster University in Canada (2013-2017). Lei worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Queen's University (Canada, 2018) and University of New South Wales (Australia, 2019-2022). He was a senior scientist at Flame Security International Pty. Ltd. (Australia) from 2022 to 2024. Lei's research interests include smart polymers, functional polymer coating materials, and high efficient & sustainable flame retardant materials. Lei has published over 40 academic papers in internationally recognized core journals related to polymer materials, including Chem. Eng. J., ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, and J. Colloid Interface Sci. Lei has developed and commercialized 2 products in the field of fire-resistant, anti-fouling, and heat-insulating materials. Lei received the Shell Canada Research Fellowship in 2016 and the BASF Perpetual Award for Technical Excellence in 2022.
