Biography

Prof. Huang is currently a presidential chair professor and the director of the Mathematics Research Center at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his Bachelor degree from Peking University in 1984 and Ph.D. degree from M.I.T. in 1989.  He worked at Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and University of Utah before he joined The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1993, where he became a Chair Professor of Mathematics in 2013.  His research is focused on representation theory of Lie groups and harmonic analysis on Lie groups. Together with his collaborators, Prof. Huang proved Vogan conjecture and initiated the study of Dirac cohomology and Dirac series, which opened a new research area.  Prof. Huang is the winner of the State Natural Science Award Class II in 2002 and Croucher Senior Research Award in 2004.
